Sparta Jag v PTFC.net
Glasgow Green
Silence is GOALden as 5 alive Sparta hit the back of the .NET!!!
"£5 worth of petrol to get to Paisley, Champions League finals won, zero,
sound in the Sparta dressing room at full time, priceless" was the message
that adorned the .net website in December after their 4-1 win over Sparta.
This time all is quiet about their latest encounter with their fellow Thistle
supporters.
Sparta stretched their lead over their fellow Jags fans to 4 points with a
devastating performance at Glasgow Green.
Stirling almost scored within the first few minutes when he capitalised on a
Joe Condron howler and fired just wide of the post with Osborne beaten.
Constant Sparta pressure finally paid off when McIntyre's lofted pass to
Stirling was intercepted by the clinical finish of the .net no3 Condron who
bulleted home his first goal for Sparta. Unfortunately for him he now plays
for .net!!!!
.net changed things around midway through the first half and created their
one and only opportunity, however the striker fired high wide and not so
handsome!

Sparta continued to probe in the early stages of the second half and it took
another defensive blunder from the visitors to allow Stirling to fire home his
first SSD2 goal of the season.
After this Sparta turned on the style and peppered the .nets with their
free-flowing style. At this point manager Kirkwood was heard saying, "This is
like that film 'The Alamo'!!"
Ferguson threaded a wonderful pass to the onrushing Maxwell whose driven cross
was fired home by Paul Duncan.
At this stage the .nets lost their shape similar to how Sparta did in December.
The 4th was not long in coming and this time a thunderous shot from Stirling
did the damage. The ball must have been a blur to the beleaguered .net no1 as
it fizzed past him. Sparta completed the rout when full-back James Hamilton
showed a striker's instinct at the back post to slam past the keeper from 6
yards with his right foot.
Boss Kirkwood although pleased mentioned to his stars that he had rested his
captain and some other 1st team regulars for the big cup game against Broadwood
Clyde the following week. Kirkwood thanked the .nets for turning up and giving
his men a warm up for the cup clash and now asks, "Just who is the one Jags
team in Glasgow???" Answers on a postcard to spartajag@hotmail.com.
