Sparta Jag v Dynamo Doonhamers
Glasgow Green
CALAMITY KIRKWOOD COSTS SPARTA DEAR AGAINST DYNAMO
Sparta Jag lost further ground on the Internet league leaders with a 2-2
draw against the Dumfries men.
On an open and exposed pitch the wind was always going to be a factor and
Dynamo had the advantage in the first half. Great play by Anderson let in
Ferguson for the first chance but the keeper reacted well. O'Donnell almost
put Sparta into the lead when he cut in from the left and unleashed a venomous
drive that whistled past.
Dynamo stuck first from a rare foray in to the Sparta box. A corner was driven
to the far post were McIntyre was beaten in the air and the ball looped over
Maxwell on the goal line.

As the teams turned round at the break Sparta stepped up a gear. Great work
again down the left from young O'Donnell allowed Kelly to smash home a 20-yard
drive that went in via the base of the post.
Next Ferguson cut inside the full back and struck the post, luck just does not
know how to shine on Sparta at the moment.
Kirkwood then got in a fankle at the edge of his own area and the striker
dispossessed him and bent the ball around Burnside as the Queens celebrated!
Then Samson who launched an incredible supporting run into the box, volleyed
off the crossbar. Just when it seemed that luck had deserted them, Anderson
picked the ball up wide left and fired in a cross-cum-up-and-under, which
nestled in the top right hand corner to earn a point for Sparta when 3 were
required.
