Sparta Jag vs PSJ
West of Scotland Science Park, Glasgow
JAGS ON TRACK AS SAINTS SWEPT AWAY
Sparta continued from last week's double victory and recorded their 3rd
consecutive victory on the spin.
Playing with a confidence and swagger that was missing in much of the months
of October and November, the Jags took the lead after 19 minutes. Maxwell
drove to the bye-line and swung over a teasing ball where O'Donnell turned on
a sixpence and left two PSJ defenders in his wake before calmly placing the
ball in to the far corner for the perfect start.
Maxwell was causing all sorts of problems for the Perth men and another
delivery was this time just out of the reach of the onrushing player-manager
Kirkwood at the far post. Kirkwood then beat the offside trap with a great
run and when it looked easier to score somehow hit the ball into the
keeper's arms. Taylor was taking up some good positions and he was next to
threaten when his 20-yard drive zipped past the post.

It didn't take long for Sparta to extend their lead and once again it was
from the wing wizardry of Maxwell who beat 2 men and fired a deep cross onto
the head of Kirkwood, who this time made no mistake and arced his header
beyond the keeper to make it 2-0.
The Glasgow men were zipping the ball to feet and playing some decent stuff.
However it wasn't all one way traffic as a mistake by Burnside let in the PSJ
no 13 but Reston slid in and cleared the danger. Reston was then involved
in the attacking third of the field when his 25-yard shot went wide of the
post. Then Kirkwood and Reston combined at a free kick and Reston was foiled
by the keeper after Kirkwood played him in.
James Taylor added a third with a thunderous 20-yard drive that settled the
game and Sparta had made it 3 games undefeated.
