KaisAYRslautern vs Sparta Jag
The Old Racecourse, Ayr
A rain drenched Old Racecourse ground was the venue for Sparta's second IFA
league match of the season.
Right from the kick off, the torrential conditions proved to be difficult,
but with the game less than ten minutes old Sparta took the lead thanks to a
well placed header from Joe Condron.
The game then turned into an encounter where it seemed that every shot was
going in, and it wasn't long before the score was 3-3. Sparta's other goals
coming courtesy of Paddy Kelly, and a Charlie Kirkwood penalty.
The score remained that way until midway through the second half. Paddy
Kelly, who had been taken off at half time, was re-introduced to the action,
and within seconds had restored Sparta's lead after good work from Scott
Traquair on the wing. Paddy then completed his hat-trick with a penalty. A
late KaisAyr goal put Sparta on the back foot, and it was relief all round
when the whistle blew for full time.
Full credit must go to both teams for serving up an entertaining encounter
in such adverse conditions.
